Understanding Yazoo County Releases
A release closes one defined custody episode. It does not always mean that the person walked into the community free of all control. Someone may leave Yazoo City Police holding after bond, finish a local sentence, move from Sheriff custody to MDOC, enter parole or earned-release supervision, or leave BOP custody at the federal complex. The source record should identify which event occurred. A court order explains the legal basis, while the jail docket or movement record shows what the custodian actually did.
Current rosters answer who is held now. They are poor archives. Once a Yazoo County booking ends, the name may vanish from a live display even though the jail docket, court file, and booking history remain. Match each fact to the same person and booking. Full name, date of birth, booking number, MDOC number, BOP register number, arresting agency, court, and approximate event date reduce false matches.

- The end of a sentence or custody authority, not merely a move between institutions.
- Transfer
- A handoff to another custodian. Confinement continues.
- Time served
- A sentence outcome based on credit for time already held.
- Detainer
- A request from another authority that may lead to a custody handoff.
Yazoo County Release Types
The wording matters. Bond or recognizance ends the present confinement while the case continues. Dismissal, a not-guilty finding, or nolle prosequi is a court result, but another charge or hold may still control departure. Parole is conditional community supervision after an MDOC release. Probation comes from a court sentence. Earned-release supervision keeps a person under MDOC jurisdiction outside a prison. A transfer closes Yazoo custody without proving a community release.

Escape, absconding, and death must not be described as community release. Likewise, “released to MDOC” means the county episode ended and state custody began. In Yazoo County, the regional facility can hold contracted MDOC prisoners, so a change in the legal custodian may occur without an obvious change in the person’s physical area.
Yazoo County Release Record Fields
Mississippi law gives the county record unusual value. The sheriff’s jail docket must preserve a full history and state how a prisoner was released or discharged. A focused Yazoo County release record should connect the person to one booking, the time custody began, the effective release or movement time, the agency’s exact reason, and the legal authority. When custody continues, the destination or receiving officer’s receipt is crucial.

A signed order may predate physical departure. Staff may need to authenticate it, check other holds, apply jail credit, return property, and arrange transport. Keep the order time and actual movement time separate. Neither should be changed merely to make two systems appear to agree.
Request Yazoo County Release Records
No dedicated Sheriff records form, published local fee schedule, office hours, or special turnaround was found. Address a narrow request to the Yazoo County Sheriff. Ask for an existing record, not a new report or analysis. Electronic copies and a cost estimate can make the scope clear.
- Identify the person with full name, date of birth, booking number if known, and a tight date range.
- Request the jail-docket, booking, movement, and release or discharge entries for that episode.
- Name the desired fields: effective time, exact manner, authority, bond outcome, holds, destination, receiving receipt, cause number, and booking photo.
- Ask for nonexempt portions after redaction and request notice before costs exceed a stated limit.
- Pair the response with the relevant court order and follow any recorded receiving agency.

For a city episode, request the municipal booking and movement record from Yazoo City Police. For a state sentence, use MDOC Records or its GovQA process. Federal custody records belong to the relevant federal agency. One office cannot supply the full history held by another sovereign.
Yazoo County Release Law and Retention
Mississippi Code section 19-25-63 requires the jail docket to state how a prisoner was released or discharged and to preserve the relevant authority or receipt. The Mississippi Department of Archives and History county schedule retains booking records, including discharge information, for ten years after release. That retention duty does not mean an online name must remain visible for ten years.
The durable jail-docket history is stronger than an unofficial roster disappearance or a current screen that has rolled off.
The Mississippi Public Records Act controls nonexempt access. When an agency has no procedure, the official text calls for access within one working day. A procedure generally cannot set production or denial later than seven working days. If production cannot occur then, written reasons and a later response may apply. Fees can cover actual search, review, duplication, and mailing costs, and advance payment may be required.
Juvenile, sealed, expunged, medical, victim-identifying, investigative, and security-sensitive material can be withheld. Request the segregable public portion and the legal basis for any denial. Do not use retention as a reason to reconstruct a protected record.
Yazoo County Release Orders by Court
Yazoo County release verification can require one of four adult courts. Municipal Court handles city traffic and misdemeanor matters. Justice Court hears county matters and felony first appearances. County Court can set bond and handle applicable criminal proceedings. Circuit Court keeps felony indictments, judgments, and sentences. Choosing the wrong clerk can make a real order look absent.
Yazoo Circuit and County Court MEC covers those courts from February 25, 2019, subject to its access terms. Justice and Municipal records often require direct clerk contact. Status flags such as closed, sealed, expunged, probation, warrant issued, or final judgment describe case administration. None alone provides the gate-out time.
Ask for the docket or cause number, bond or release order, dismissal, judgment, sentence, jail-credit term, probation or post-release term, revocation, warrant, and amended order that fit the event. Then compare that legal authority with the custodian’s movement log.
Expunged Yazoo County Release Records
Section 99-19-71 provides several Mississippi expungement routes, including a petition route for certain arrests followed by release and dismissal, dropped charges, no disposition, or a not-guilty result. Eligible conviction routes have distinct terms and exclusions. A public record that disappears after sealing or expungement must not be rebuilt from cached pages or commercial copies.
A no-result can also reflect spelling, an older pre-MEC matter, or the wrong court. It does not prove the underlying event never happened. The person or authorized counsel can ask the court about lawful access. Mississippi Center for Legal Services is identified in state resource material as serving Yazoo County.
Find Released Yazoo County Inmates
Start with the custodian, not a broad name result. “Yazoo inmate” may refer to a city arrestee, a county detainee, an MDOC prisoner at the regional facility, or a federal prisoner at FCC Yazoo City. Each search answers a different question.
- Confirm the full name, birth date, booking or agency number, approximate date, arresting agency, and court.
- For local custody, call the regional facility and Sheriff. Ask whether custody ended, the effective time and manner, and any destination.
- For city holding, ask Yazoo City Police whether the person left directly or was delivered to county custody.
- For an MDOC number or state sentence, check the state inmate and parolee searches, then request the time sheet or release certificate.
- For FCC Yazoo City, use BOP. For a documented immigration handoff, use ICE ODLS. Verify the court order in the correct docket.
- If online data is missing or conflicts, request the owner’s history or audit record in writing.
A released person usually leaves a live roster. Absence alone cannot distinguish release, transfer, correction, or an unmatched identity.

Search MDOC Yazoo County Release Records
Use the Mississippi Department of Corrections Inmate Search when the person has an MDOC number or served a state sentence. Search by number when possible. Otherwise use the name, then compare date of birth, conviction county, sentence, physical details, and agency identifiers before relying on a result.

The public interface is not a guaranteed archive of every discharged person. A blank field or no result is inconclusive. Search the separate parolee interface and contact MDOC Records for the official time sheet, release type, actual date, discharge date, jail credit, and location history.

Yazoo County Recent Release Records
No official rolling Yazoo County 24-hour or 72-hour release list was found on the Sheriff site, county sitemap, forms page, or MDOC facility page. No official cadence, archive window, published field list, photo behavior, or inmate app can be claimed. The Sheriff page is contact-oriented. Smart911 and the linked social channels are emergency or selected-news tools, not release feeds.
For one person, call with identifying facts and ask for the exact jail-docket event. For a time-window request, use closed start and end timestamps and request existing entries whose effective release time falls within the interval. The agency need not create a new analysis, so accept a responsive existing report or the underlying docket entries.
Weekend processing can place the order, data entry, and physical departure on different calendar days. Yazoo County publishes no fixed release hour or update interval. Confirm the actual time with the custodian.
Yazoo County Post-Release Supervision Records
The MDOC parolee search accepts first name, last name, MDOC number, city, and county. A match supports an MDOC parole record but does not prove every hold ended or the sentence discharged. County is a location filter, not always the conviction county. A miss does not resolve court-ordered probation or supervision in another area.
The Mississippi State Parole Board decides parole, while MDOC Community Corrections manages field supervision. Yazoo’s named office is the Yazoo Probation and Parole Office. It is the right local route when the record shows MDOC supervision, not when a person merely bonded out of county custody. More detail appears on the Parole / Probation page.
MDOC Yazoo County Release Certificates
Mississippi Code section 47-5-157 requires a signed and sealed written discharge or release when an offender leaves MDOC custody on parole, pardon, discharge, or another authorized route. The document identifies the offender, offense, term, sentence date, sentencing county, and other statutory details. It records an action and is stronger evidence than a screenshot of a tentative date.
The same law addresses suitable clothing, return of money held for the person, identification where needed, limited release funds based on time served, and transportation. Those steps govern an MDOC release. No comparable Yazoo county-jail exit, waiting-area, property-pickup, or transport policy was found.
Ask MDOC Records for the release or discharge certificate, actual physical release date, release authority, sentence-completion date, and public time sheet. A narrow request avoids protected supervision material and keeps the source tied to the exact offender.
Yazoo County Release Alerts
Mississippi SAVIN through VINELink can report agency-entered release, transfer, return to custody, escape, or abscond events from participating county and state systems. Read the exact event and reporting agency. A notice that one custodian released a person can still describe a handoff. VINELink does not replace BOP or ICE sources.
FCC Yazoo City makes the BOP Inmate Locator a local search path. An explicit “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” result ends the BOP episode, but another authority or federal supervised release may remain. A federal date and the federal docket must be read together.
Yazoo County ICE Release Handoffs
No ICE detention facility was verified in Yazoo County. ICE’s Jackson check-in office in Pearl serves the area, but it is not a jail. An ICE detainer can still change the meaning of a local release. It requests advance notice and can support a brief hold so immigration authorities may assume custody. A Yazoo docket entry that records release to ICE therefore describes a handoff, not release to the community.
Start with the destination or receiving-agency entry in the county movement record. When the record names ICE, search the ICE Online Detainee Locator using the exact A-number and country of birth, or exact biographical details. ODLS may show current custody or some people released within the prior 60 days, but omissions and delays apply. A no-match does not prove release, removal, or freedom.
Compare Yazoo County Release Record Systems
The best source follows the custody episode. A current roster, court order, automated alert, tentative date, and release record can all be accurate while answering different questions.

When records conflict, confirm identity and booking first. Compare the event time with the update time, identify which government owns each field, and request the source history or correction process from that owner.
Yazoo County Release Facilities
Yazoo is not a one-jail county. The regional facility is sheriff-operated under the regional agreement and houses contracted MDOC men, but a local booking and an MDOC sentence still use different release records. Yazoo City Police has a small short-term holding facility and may release a person or deliver that person to county custody. FCC Yazoo City contains separate BOP institutions, and leaving one federal component may be a transfer rather than a federal release.

- Yazoo City Police Department holding facility: pair the police movement entry with Municipal Court disposition.
