An actual release date records a completed custody change. A tentative date can pass without proving that a person left, and a future date can change before it arrives.

Mississippi Code section 47-5-138 governs MDOC earned time and earned-release supervision. Current text provides an eligible post-June 1995 inmate up to four and one-half days for each thirty days served, generally capped so the allowance does not exceed fifteen percent of the sentence. Do not apply the percentage to a sentence in isolation. Offense date, statutory eligibility, sentence structure, habitual status, program credit, discipline, forfeiture, and restored time can affect the official computation. Consecutive terms and corrected jail credit also matter. Only MDOC can apply those facts to a state sentence, and the current official time sheet is the proper source for the resulting estimate.
Why Yazoo County Release Dates Change
A projected date changes when an input changes or a new legal event takes effect. Some changes move the date. Others alter what happens on that date, such as a transfer to another custodian instead of release to the community.

Parole eligibility is yet another date. Section 47-7-3 contains offense and date-specific rules. Eligibility permits consideration; it does not guarantee a hearing, favorable decision, approved plan, or physical departure.

Durable Yazoo County Release Date Records
A person may vanish from a live custody view long before the underlying record reaches the end of its retention period. Mississippi’s sheriff jail-docket law requires the history to say how the prisoner was released or discharged. The county retention schedule keeps booking records, including discharge information, for ten years after release.
This durable record is especially important in Yazoo because no official rolling 24-hour or 72-hour release feed was verified. BOP recalculations can alter a federal date, and “Not in BOP Custody” ends only the federal Bureau of Prisons episode. Another justice system or federal supervision may remain. MDOC rules must not be used to estimate an FCC Yazoo City sentence merely because both institutions sit in the county. The custodians remain distinct.
